Adam Street Private Members Club

Modern British Restaurant
It’s worth knowing that private members’ club Adam Street is open to non-members at lunchtime (though there is a £10 cover charge) because the suave vaulted dining room is a haven from the tourist-ridden eateries on the other side of the Strand.

In keeping with the clubby surrounds it is a gentlemanly best-of-British menu featuring roast rump of lamb, rib of beef with fat-cut chips, daily specials such as shepherd’s pie & liver & bacon, & calorific puds of the Eton mess & sticky toffee pudding ilk. Tiger prawn Caesar salad & seared tuna steaks provide lighter relief & the wide-ranging wine list offers plenty of reasonably priced bottles, plus a good selection by the glass.
