| The U.K’s only authentic Bavarian restaurant, the Bavarian Beerhouse on City Road celebrates good German beer and classic German food. Conveniently situated just off Old Street, the genuine cellar atmosphere with wooden benches and tables is aimed at parties rather than intimate dinners. Main courses include Munich Pork Roast with a dark beer sauce, Bavarian Beef Goulash and for spicy sausage lovers, there’s the Special Bavarian Beerhouse Wurstplatte. Surprising many, Bavaria appears to be quite veggie-friendly with local specialities such as Obazda Cheese on the menu. Look out for Monday’s Schnitzel Madness Night to get your favourite Schnitzel and a half stein of beer, and Tuesday night is when groups of 30 or more tuck into a whole Bavarian suckling pig roast! It’s no surprise though that the place comes into its own during Oktoberfest when dirndl-clad waitresses serve foaming steins of beer to an oompah beat. |
